Chiropractic TREATMENTS & TECHNIQUES

All of the different treatments and techniques we offer at Rigby Family Chiropractic, allow the Chiropractors to make individualised decisions on how to successfully treat each and every patient.

Applied Kinesiology

Applied Kinesiology

Applied Kinesiology is a procedure that uses muscle testing as a primary feedback mechanism to understand how your body is functioning. Our chiropractors look for muscle weakness and imbalances and then attempt to determine why that muscle is not functioning correctly.

Manual Diversified Chiropractic adjustments

Manual Diversified Chiropractic adjustments are delivered to patients through the Chiropractor’s hand via controlled movements applied to dysfunctional joints. This type of adjustment can create a popping sound as gas bubbles are released from the joint.

We can also use more gentle adjusting options in the form of Activator Methods, Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT) and Cranial adjustments. We also use specifically designed Drop Piece chiropractic tables.

Activator Method adjustments

The Activator adjusting method is a handheld, springloaded instrument that allows the Chiropractor to provide a quick low force impulse at specific points on the body. It is used by Chiropractors as an alternative adjusting method that involves no popping or cracking of the joints.

This method of adjusting is commonly used in the treatment of children, the elderly and patients who don’t suit manual adjusting techniques.

Cranial adjustments

Cranial Method adjustments involve the gentle movement of the cranial bones within the skull. By applying specific pressure on these bones, the Chiropractor can create changes in the nervous system and cerebrospinal fluid flow in patients.

Cranial adjustments are commonly used on children and patients who suffer from headaches and jaw problems.

Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT)

Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT) is a gentle, non-forceful technique that focuses on the relationship between the sacrum (base of the spine) and the occiput (base of the skull). It aims to balance the body by addressing spinal alignment and the nervous system function, by using the techniques of pelvic blocking and cranial therapy. Wedge shaped blocks are placed under the patient’s pelvis to realign their spine while cranial therapy is gently applied through the bones of the patient’s skull.

SOT is a great technique for patients who do not like forceful manual adjustments.

Drop Piece adjustments

Drop Piece adjustments are used on patients through the use of a specialised table – with sections that can be raised and dropped with a gentle thrust. This drop action helps to specifically target and mobilise restricted joints in patients and can be a gentler option for patients when compared to manual adjustments.

Chiropractic during pregnancy

Pregnancy Chiropractic care can be beneficial to women during their pregnancy to help alleviate common symptoms such as lower back pain, hip pain and neck pain.

As the body changes during pregnancy, Chiropractic care can also help maintain proper posture and pelvic alignment – this can be crucial to a successful pregnancy and labour.
